About us

It all started when...

A group of students from the Etobicoke School of the Arts - initially conceptualized by Grade 9 student Lauren Marron - were looking to use their art for the greater good.  The students applied for, and received, a SpeakUp grant from the Ontario Ministry of Education to support their vision.

With the support and assistance of the Stephen Lewis Foundation, the students are proud to be hosting Founders Engage, a concert and workshop series organized by students with the intent of bringing together students from across Toronto to engage collaboratively in community events and activism.

The first event is an inspirational concert on Saturday May 6th, 2017.  This will be an opportunity to get together, share stories and begin to share ideas about how we can engage our art.  This event will be accompanied by the launch of an interactive website highlighting student community philanthropy, activism and creative endeavours that challenge existing stereotypes, progress dialogues of positive change, bring awareness to how their actions can have a positive impact and encourage others to follow suit.

The intent is that Founders Engage will be an annual concert and workshop series bringing together students from diverse communities across Toronto.

We look forward to building this community together.  We're delighted to have you join us.

Founders Engage is being launched to showcase activities, deliver inspirational music and talks, to empower teens to look for ways that they can use their arts, academics and sports backgrounds to build community, build resiliency and promote positive change.
